ABOUT AMERICANS FOR CURES:

In 2004, 59% of Californians—more than 7 million people—voted with overwhelming bipartisan support to pass Proposition 71, authorizing a $3 billion investment in stem cell research and propelling California to the forefront of scientific discovery and launching a revolution in medicine.

Americans for Cures Foundation is the legacy non-profit 501(c)3 organization behind Proposition 71. Our mission is to advocate on behalf of the 100 million Americans who suffer from chronic diseases and/or injuries who could benefit from stem cell research. We believe it is our responsibility to “Report Back” to the 7 million Californians who voted in support of Proposition 71, as well as California citizens, on the many Milestones of Progress that have been achieved since Proposition 71’s passage.

In just the short amount of time since Prop 71’s passage, stem cell research is already changing medicine—beginning with education and training for the next generation of stem cell scientists, and continuing all the way through human clinical trials. Today, for the first time in history, stem cell research offers real hope to those whose suffering has been called incurable.
